Urology Care is the office of Dr. Michael Macfarlane. He and his staff continue to practice medicine the way you remember. While many medical practices today are becoming increasing business oriented with large groups of physicians, Urology Care provides an individual personal approach focused on your well being.
Dr. Macfarlane’s practice is primarily focused on patients with cancer of the prostate, bladder or kidney. He has over 20 years of experience with the management of urologic cancer. His particular expertise is in the management of cancer of the prostate, including all surgical procedures and radioactive seed implantation. He is the most experienced surgeon in the area in the nerve sparing total prostatectomy having performed upwards of 1000 prostatectomies

Dr. Macfarlane graduated from the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University in New York with honors (AOA). His subsequent training was in general surgery at the Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and served as a resident in Urology at the UCLA School of Medicine. After training, he remained at UCLA as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and was appointed the Chief of Urology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. His area of expertise has focused on urologic cancer, in particular cancer of the prostate. He was a member of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA. Dr. Macfarlane has had special training in radioactive seed implantation in addition to laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and was appointed a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Macfarlane is presently a Clinical Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine. He has authored numerous scientific publications and is the sole author of one of the most popular handbooks of urology for medical students and residents for the past 18 years. (Publications)
